Lay Member of Court, university of Strathclyde

The University is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced individuals who wish to serve as a lay member on the University Court. A single vacancy will arise from the beginning of the coming year (1 August 2018) although additional opportunities are expected to arise in the following year. (Please note that members serve in a voluntary capacity and positions are unremunerated.)
The University of Strathclyde is one of the most dynamic higher education institutions in the UK, with a “low inertia-high ambition” ethos. Building on our Enlightenment roots as a “place of useful learning”, we are a socially progressive institution, recognised for engagement with business and industry, world-class teaching and research and deep commitment to innovation and enterprise.

With a portfolio ranging from engineering, science, business, humanities and social sciences, Strathclyde is differentiating itself as a leading international technological university, filling a significant gap in the UK’s HE sector by developing technology-driven solutions to societal problems, and informing public policy development.

Court, the University’s governing body, plays a key role in shaping the strategy and overseeing the effective management of the institution. The majority of its members are drawn from outside the University and we are seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced individuals who believe they can contribute to our success, and to the success of a sector central to Scotland’s economic, social and educational development.
We are particularly interested to hear from individuals with senior experience or expertise in human resources, industry, property, marketing, or health policy. We would also welcome interest from applicants with international experience.

The University of Strathclyde welcomes applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from applicants that would further enhance the diversity of the Court membership.

Please note that we cannot accept applications from current staff or students of the University.?
