Already one of the largest and most diverse Colleges in London, Lewisham Southwark College’s ambition over the next few years is to become the capital’s leading FE College with a reputation for service excellence, through the delivery of real outcomes, set against the needs of Europe’s most vibrant labour market. With a revitalised curriculum linked to employer needs the College is building positive relationships, importantly with employers and with the three Boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth, as well as with schools, employers and key stakeholder groups across South London. With ambitious plans to create the most modern and technically advanced learning environment for students they are well placed to maximise the opportunities presented by today’s changing educational landscape.

Lewisham Southwark College is looking to appoint a new Chair who will lead the College at this challenging time across the sector. Taking the lead for the organisation in association with the Board, you will shape the strategic direction for the College, taking staff, students, employers, ministers and key stakeholder on a journey of transformation to deliver tangible outcomes for all learners. You will take ownership for this transition setting in place the ethos, structures and governance protocols to ensure outstanding results are attained across all areas set against a sustainable and financially viable operating model.

You will be an inspiring strategic leader with a proven track record of success in a Board level role of comparable scale and complexity. You will be well versed in the mechanics of Government and posses a dexterity of communication to enable you to influence at all levels in often challenging and conflicting environments.  You will be fully conversant with the role of a Chair, be analytical in approach and have a well honed understanding of excellence in governance with the personal maturity to constructively challenge when required. Furthermore you will have a profound commitment to education, as well as the values, aims and objectives of the College. This is a challenging role as the College moves through a period of recovery with both quality and financial issues being addressed,
