Marston's PLC is a leading pub retailing and brewing business and a FTSE250 quoted company. Operating over 2,000 pubs and bars and five breweries in thriving communities across the country, Marston’s is at the forefront of Britain's pub industry ensuring that their pubs and beers meet the high standards their customers expect and provide outstanding value for money.  The Marston’s strategy centres on delivering growth, increasing return on capital and reducing leverage. The business has been growing significantly since 2009 (it currently employs around 13,000 people nationwide) and as the Marston's brand continues to develop, it will enable increased operational effectiveness and encourage even higher levels of consumer loyalty.

The strategic shift towards a more branded offering brings with it significant people challenges, which are already being addressed at all levels of the organisation, while maintaining industry leading levels of staff engagement . A NED is sought to join the board from a Human Resources background who understands employer branding and its alignment to corporate branding. Providing support and challenge at a strategic level, bringing independence, objectivity and an external perspective, this is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the success and growth of Marston’s. The annual time commitment is expected to be around 25 days per annum.

You will have served on the operating or main board within significant branded retail or leisure environments and will ideally have exposure at plc board level. Your experience will include transforming an HR function to support changing business needs and you will be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of how best to drive cultural transformation through employee engagement in a branded environment. You will be valued for your ability to challenge others’ viewpoints constructively and for your high levels of personal integrity.
