Marston's PLC is a leading pub retailing and brewing business and a FTSE250 quoted company. Operating over 2,000 pubs and bars and five breweries in thriving communities across the country, Marston’s is at the forefront of Britain's pub industry ensuring that their pubs and beers meet the high standards their customers expect and provide outstanding value for money. The Marston’s strategy centres on delivering growth, increasing return on capital and reducing leverage and the business has been growing significantly since 2009 (it currently employs around 13,000 people nationwide). There is growing recognition that the consumer dining market is becoming increasingly branded and Marston’s is determined to take full advantage of this shift.

As the Marston’s brand continues to develop, so does the need to appoint an experienced Non-Executive Director with a marketing background to provide input at Board level on consumer trends in the retail arena and the technology being used to target consumers. Providing support and challenge at a strategic level, bringing independence, objectivity and an external perspective, this is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the success and growth of Marston’s. The annual time commitment is expected to be around 25 days per annum.

You will have a strong marketing background and a deep understanding of consumer issues in retail, as well as digital marketing and corporate branding. Your experience, which will ideally include exposure at plc board level, will have been gained serving on the operating or main board of a significant branded retailer. The strongest candidates will have the ability and confidence to analyse complex issues quickly and will have strong relationship building, influencing and communication skills. You will be valued for your ability to challenge others’ viewpoints constructively and for your high levels of personal integrity.

Marston’s is passionate about equal opportunities and would encourage a broad diversity of talent to apply, particularly women and ethnic minorities.
