Volunteer with South West London Environment Network

Would you like to help reduce our impact on the environment by helping others save energy, water and waste? You can acquire new skills and help people to reduce their energy bills. We are a charity who supports the environment and people who want to improve it. See our website SWLEN.org.uk

After a short training session and practical exercises, you will help conduct assessments of private homes and premises used by community groups, accompanied by an experienced assessor. You walk around the building, recording each opportunity to save energy, water or waste and then compile a report with recommendations and a short list of top tips. You look at energy usage, central heating systems, water heating, lighting, insulation, possible sustainable energy sources and occupants’ behaviours

The assessments are in South West London and take 1- 2 hours each plus time afterwards creating a brief report. You can do most other work at home at times that suit you.

You need to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, but much more work is available if you have the time. We have 3 large projects in Richmond, Surbiton and Tolworth which need to be completed by end of April 2014 and we need several more people for this voluntary role. Reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed.

  • You should live close to Richmond, Kingston, Surbiton or Tolworth, SW London.

  • You must be willing to be trained and to proactively learn new skills.

  • You need a good command of English and be able to write reports using MS Word.
