Board Games

Kevin O'Sullivan writes:  'I am exploring the possibilities of using modern / European board games (http://kevinandgames.blogspot.com/2010/05/how-might-we-describe-games-we-play.html) at either end of the population age range for both social and educational benefits and the degree to which they may already be being used.

Grandparent and related groups may be interested in them because they are a way of engaging with the younger generation around a table. They require no IT knowledge, offer a high degree of fun, plus have underlying educational and social benefits for children.

On a separate note these games may be of help in care situations and or with people suffering from dementia. My blog post on Loneliness ( http://kevinandgames.blogspot.com/2010/06/lonely-connected-society-paradox.html ) suggests they may also be a useful tool for bringing isolated people together.

If you have any experience of using these games in any of the ways outlined above or research on them or are just interested in finding out more about them then please contact me at kho@gordian-enterprises.co.uk
